Today is both Father's Day and my father's birthday. Both my father and my husband, the father of my children, are gone and have been for years, so this day is full of memories and some sadness. So it's a good day to paint as all days tend to be. I am working on a painting, actually I am painting over one that has never made me happy. It is called "Life Changes". Originally it looked like this: It seemed too stiff to me, so I have been adding layers, always my best solution... and although it's still a bit wet, I can show you a portion of it. It's hard to photograph well flat on a table... The turquoise spot in the middle is still wet, so we are waiting on the latest layer to dry. It has changed substantially! It may need more work, but it's hard to tell at the moment.
So, that's what I'm up to today, what about you? Creativity flowing?

AuthorSue moved to Lucas, TX in 2019, after may years in Houston. Burke Studio continues, just a new location!! She was born in Michigan, but has lived in many states since. In Texas there is a saying, I wasn't born here, but I got here as soon as I could! It has become home in every way. Houston has such a vibrant art scene, it's a great place to be for an artist! There are always art shows to see as well as fellow artists to share with and I am fortunate to have family nearby. Archives
